Kemsley dead

I’m honestly heartbroken.

James Kemsley, who from 1984 to present drew the Australian comic “Ginger Meggs” has died at 59 of Motor Neuron disease.

I read James Kemsley’s version of Ginger Meggs ever since I learnt how to read, and he had inspired me to draw and wanting to be a cartoonist when I grew up. That never eventuated, but for ages I read the regular comic strip.

I even briefly met the guy when I was in my teens, and taught me how to do “scratch etches” in the corner of pictures to give it that more shadow feel.

You’re out of pain now. VALE.
