Movies Review

Review: 2012

I think I was one of the last people to see this. All my friends had already seen it. I even asked one of them to come see it again as I had free tickets. I still got a refusal… so I saw it by myself in a cinema, filled with about 9 people.

Based on the Mayan calendar prediction that the end of the world will happen in 2012, due to the perfect alignment of the planets (blah blah blahhhh), the world practically crumbles apart in front of our eyes. John Cusack plays the suffering Sci Fi-author-cum-limo-driver who just happens to fall into the middle of it with his barely together family, dodging obstacles to survive. Amazingly, it all starts in California. America is the best place to live when it comes to disaster movies.

You’re guaranteed an ultimate disaster movie when they’ve invented new CGI technology. If you compare this movie to predecessors, such as Volcano, The Day After Tomorrow, etc.. 2012 outdoes them in the “Oh-My-God-Did-You-Just-See-That?” category.

I love John Cusack. He oozes coolness from the pores of his skin.
I think he was the only one who kept this movie together. I especially love it when side characters of different speaking nationality weave themselves into the storyline. When it comes to their scene, they can magically speak fluent English.
The movie itself has a give or take deliverance. If you’re going to see this at all, turn off your brain and marvel at the $200 million budget. If you’re saving it for home, make sure you have a kick-arse setup to get the full benefit.
Mr Cusack – I hope your next movie is cool. You just made this one bareable 🙂
