I’m a sucker for with the iphone is retro games that are becoming available on the unit. The original Sonic The Hedgehog game was released early last year. Noting the huge success of the game (around AU$7.99 for the download), Sonic 2 has been released. Apparently it’s been available since December 2009, but I’m slow off the mark. One thing I still remember from my Sega childhood was the level skip. I couldn’t remember what version it worked on, but after mucking around with the game today, I stumbled upon it! I realise I could’ve easily googled it, but I’m just too damn lazy.
Here’s how it works:
1) Load up the application.
The Sonic 2 title will appear. The game is pretty much an exact rip of the original game.
2) You’ll see the Sega title coming up with Sonic zooming past twice, then “SEGA!” choir.
3) The Sonic and Tails credits will appear .Down the bottom of the screen, you’ll see “Touch Screen”. The only thing you need to touch is the control pad. The code hasn’t changed.
As soon as you start doing the code, the Start Menu will appear.
When it does, then press on the control pad:
UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, UP, UP, DOWN – and instead of Start, you press NEW GAME.
4) If you did it right, you’ll see the old level skip screen.
Now, enjoy being 10 again!
