Yahoo! saves Community

Now just the movie.
Now just the movie.

In what would be a declared win with television, search engine Yahoo! declared the ownership of the troublesome NBC’s Community TV show in late June, just hours before the contracts of the cast were about to expire.

Starring Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Donald Glover, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong, formerly Chevy Chase oh, you know what? If you use Facebook, Twitter on a regular basis, you’d know about this cult show favourite.

You mean, you can watch TV online?
You mean, you can watch TV online?

An ultra-meta-meme comedy sitcom that has stood the test of time with low ratings but high and dedicated fan base that any media business would love to have as part of their demographic with a disposable income, the website who now owns screening rights to all the classic Saturday Night Live episodes but only shows snippets, bought the rights to the sixth season after NBC ceremoniously dumped the show on its broken hind-legs after the surprise resurrection of a fifth season.

So Yahoo! released a trailer to prove they now own it. Not using any fresh new footage because nothing has been filmed yet, but impressive nonetheless.

Now we twiddle our thumbs and wait.. doo, do doo do dooo…
