The Streaming Video on Demand (SVOD) landscape has never been so tight-knit, especially in Australia – where it’s barely a year old.
Services such as Channel 9 / Fairfax’s Stan, Channel 7 / Foxtel’s Presto, and Netflix’s… err.. Netflix have only been available for most of 2015, and their marketing has been very competitive – and tongue-in-cheek.
Previously, Stan used actor Rebel Wilson to promote their wares, and Presto has used actor Naomi Watts to help promote their muchly delayed HD.
Netflix, while already established overseas (and that good enough for Aussies to use VPNs to bypass geo-blocking), don’t have to do much advertising. In their latest viral attempt to get attention, they turn to something so complex, yet compelling:
An oscillating fan.
That’s right – a hour long oscillating fan.
Seriously – get on it. Totally worth your time. I’m a fan.
