New Ghostbusters Theme Song

With the reboot / re-envisioning of the 1984 classic Ghostbusters around the corner, and the internets waging war on any new trailer or tweet posted about the all new female Ghostbusters, comes the release of the re-jigged theme song that made Ray Parker Jr a household name.

To try and fit in with the modern times, why not recruit partial emo heroes Fall-Out Boy cross the streams with rapper Missy Elliott.

This is what you get:

While it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I give them points for trying. But with everything else on the internet, once something is established, it’s hard to convince die-hard fans who seem to hide behind their keyboards.

At least Fall-Out Boy won’t have to worry about Huey Lewis knocking at their door with a lawsuit, accusing them of plagiarism.

And let’s not forget Run D.M.C’s attempt at a rap cover for Ghostbusters II – under instruction of creator Dan Aykroyd to appeal to the rap generation of ’89.

However, honourable mention goes to Bobby Brown, who tried to make it “on his own”.

Maybe this should be thrown in as an easter egg track.

Either way, don’t judge the new movie starring Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Chris Hemsworth until you actually watch it… until then, you have nothing to go on. Out July 15, 2016. THEN you can slag it off to your heart’s content.

Shooting first, asking questions later.

Bustin’…
